Pete Lee wins stand-up competition at Great American Comedy Festival

Lee had advanced from Friday evening's semifinal round competition and etertained the judges -- as well as the audience -- with a new set of comedy that propelled him to the top of eight finalists.

Finishing second was Owen Smith of New York City, while tied for third were Amber Preston of Minneapolis and Dave Waite of Ludlow, Ky.

Also competing were Ben Bizuneh of Bloomington, Ind., Johnny Beehner of Waukesha, Wis., Denise Ramsden of Chicago and Harry Terjanian of New York City.

Saturday's performance also included the presentation of the Johnny Carson Comedy Legend award to Jimmie "JJ" Walker, while Paula Poundstone served as host and headliner.
